Fall is the time of year when you start thinking about jumping in piles of colorful leaves, wearing cozy flannel shirts, relaxing with friends by the fire and enjoying pumpkin-spice-flavored everything.

But it's also the time of year you should start thinking about getting your home ready for the winter months ahead:

  • Tip #1:  Use your Energy Package to easily create a program that automatically adjusts the thermostat for you. Try the "Not Too Cold, Not Too Hot" program so you can adjust the temperature at the times you choose...automatically!
  • Tip #2:  Use the sunrise/sunset feature setting when creating your time-based programs to have them automatically adjust for daylight savings time.
  • Tip #3:  Check your gutters for any blockages caused by leaves and other debris. Left untouched, blockages can lead to ice dams in the wintertime.
  • Tip #4:  Make sure your heating system is in proper working order. Replace your filters and have a licensed heating contractor check your system just to make sure it doesn't call it quits at the worst possible time.

Afterwards, feel free to give yourself a break and head out to the big football game. Even if the game goes into overtime, you can always use the indoor camera to check in on the pets to make sure they are safe and sound.

And last but not least, don't forget to have some fun this fall!
