Using Digital Life and Alexa-Enabled Devices Together
How to Connect Your Digital Life System to Your Alexa-Enabled Device
Digital Life can now be controlled by Alexa-enabled devices. To enable this feature, Digital Life has developed an additional Skill for Alexa-enabled devices which will allow Digital Life devices to be controlled by voice commands.
- AT&T Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa is available, free of charge, to all Digital Life customers who have approved Alexa-enabled devices.
- Approved Alexa-enabled devices include: Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show & Echo Look.
- The Alexa-enabled device must be connected to the internet to use the AT&T Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa.
- "Alexa" is the default wake-up word for Alexa-enabled devices. It can also be set to "Computer", "Echo" or "Amazon".
What You Need to Know
Because your security is very important to us, Alexa-enabled devices are NOT able to disarm the Digital Life system, unlock doors, or open garage doors. You must use the Digital Life app for those tasks. Alexa-enabled devices also cannot control Digital Life cameras.
Enabling the AT&T Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa
- Open the Amazon Alexa app
- From the left navigation panel, select Skills
- Use the search bar to enter Digital Life
- When you see the AT&T Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa, select Enable Skill
- When prompted to log in into Digital Life, enter your user name/password
Note: If you change your Digital Life user name or password, you will need to disable/re-enable the AT&T Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa via the Amazon Alexa app.
Using Voice Commands
- To start a voice command, the Alexa-enabled device must be addressed by its wake up word. "Alexa" is the default wake-up word for Alexa-enabled devices.
- Your Alexa-enabled device will recognize each of your Digital Life devices by the name that you assigned to them in your Digital Life app. When asking your Alexa-enabled device to perform a task, you will need to refer to the Digital Life device by that name. For example: "Alexa, ask Digital Life to lock the 'Front Door'."
- If you experience issues with the Skill recognizing your device, please use the name of the device in the Digital Life app.

- Some of the things that the Digital Life Skill for Amazon Alexa will and will not do:

It is important that you state the command specific to Digital Life as it appears below, always using the name assigned to your Digital Life devices in the Digital Life app.
- Your Alexa-enabled device can only accept one command at a time. You cannot give multiple commands in a single sentence, such as, "Alexa, ask Digital Life to turn on my kitchen light and arm my system."

"Alexa, ask Digital Life to turn on my 'Living Room' light"
"Alexa, ask Digital Life dim my 'Living Room' light"

"Alexa, ask Digital Life is my 'Kitchen Light' on?"

"Alexa, ask Digital Life to set the 'Hallway Thermostat' mode to cool"
"Alexa, ask Digital Life what is the status of the 'Hallway Thermostat'?'"

Note: To allow temperature changes, the thermostat cannot be in Auto mode.
To manage garage door
"Alexa, ask Digital Life to close my 'Door'"

"Alexa, ask Digital Life is my "Garage Door" open?
Note: Opening of garage doors by voice command is disabled by design to ensure your safety and security.
